Inter-racial marriage

I think Ill be writing a few posts on inter-racial marriage. Because I have a bit of experience in this field. Not just because I'm the product of one, but also because in Besut, there are loads of kampung kids getting hitched with foreigners. I believe Besut would probably score higher than average in an 'inter-racial index' if there ever was one. These kampung kids pwn those overseas student noobs in fact. Here's a list of the race of some of those married to locals i know or have heard of. Of course there are many more.

Some interesting facts:
All the girls in the table met their spouses on Perhentian Island.
Two of the British guys have been here since the 1940’s – and have never been back to England since then. They’re more Malaysian than anybody!
Two marriages in the table have ended in divorce.
The two Chinese are local Chinese.
One of the British girls has been a Muslim for 2 years before she married the local.
Everyone in the table are Muslim reverts except the Egyptian.

A lot of these guys have some interesting stories to tell, especially the pre-merdeka ones. Some sad stories too. I might blog about those sometime!

Besut VS Kemaman

Perjalanan bas semalam dekat 15 jam sial. Traffic jam tengah hutan kat gua musang. Apa ni Ikram? Jawab cepat..haha
At last sampai besut. Pergi Jertih tadi. Tengok kemajuan kat besut sket... starbucks takde lagi. KFC, guardian ngan watson je la lambang kapitalis yang ada untuk menunjukkan besut lebih maju dari dulu.. Kemaman dah ada starbucks, big apple donuts, secret recipe ngan TGV kat Mesra Mall( Mesra mall adalah pasaraya moden bernilai rm100juta yang dikendali oleh suria klcc group). KT pon xde starbucks. gle ah kemaman.

Hmm. Menteri besar adalah ADUN kemaman. Adakah keputusan meletakkan mesra mall di kertih berbau politik? Sebenarnya dulu bila Idris Jusoh jadi MB, banyak 'kemajuan' berlaku di Besut (idris orang besut). Contohnya UDM, taman ilmu, masjid hadhari dan jerteh souq merupakan antaran projek mega idris. Adakah sekarang giliran kemaman 'menunjuk jari tengah' ke besut?

Jadi persoalannya, adakah kemaman, a land in the middle of no where, lokasi terbaik untuk sebuah pasaraya moden? Tejo nasir dan michik (dungun dekat ah tuh) mungkin berkata "ya!". Dan mereka kemungkinan sekarang sedang menghirup double frappocino sambil memerhati permandangan indah trafik kemaman. Impian menjadi realiti.
But ok la, alasan untuk buat kat kemaman logik gak ah. Engineer petroleum dan expatriates yang duk kat situ, sememangnya duit belambak. Kalau besut? Tokei sate dan keropok lekor je la mampu minum kat starbucks sambil menikmati wifi percuma yang slow nak mati tu.

Set kemamang jgn tak tegur lak aku pas ni. Mentang la breakfast stabak.
'Frapocino daba se bang. derah sket natang beruk. nok gi shopping giordano plok ning. Pahtu tengok quantum of sorleh'.
Hilir saing aku lening. Impian menjadi realiti.
